I'm somewhat amused by how Google is getting railed on right and left for, alternately, linking to content and not linking to content.
The blogger types get angry at Google when the search giant changes its search algorithm and they drop in the rankings. "Google is too powerful, they're depriving me of my traffic," they yowl.
On the other side of the fence, the moronic newspaper publishers who accuse Google of stealing content by posting snippets of their content and driving traffic to the newspaper sites -- thereby providing extra traffic.
So... not linking to sites is bad, but so is linking to sites.
OK, I'm oversimplifying here, but... it seems that no matter what Google does, they're going to continue to get railed on just for existing, now that they're at the top of the search heap.
Damned if you do...
