A few weeks ago I mentioned that my main system was having problems and that it was time to upgrade. After a lot of looking and a few delays, I finally got all the components I ordered today and put the new machine together.
Though I started off planning to get a Core 2 Duo system, I couldn't find quite exactly what I was looking for there, so I wound up getting a AMD Athlon X2 4200+ (dual core) and a Shuttle XPC SN27P2 small form-factor barebone system.
So far, so good. It took me a little more than an hour to put everything together, and after that I installed Ubuntu Edgy AMD64 with no problem.
The system has two 320GB hard drives, 4GB of RAM, and an Nvidia 7900 PCI-E video card. Everything seems to be supported, which is a relief since I couldn't find any decent reviews of the system's Linux compatibility online.
It's also very quiet. I'm definitely liking that. As everyone knows, it's vitally important to give your computers names, so I've dubbed it Winslow.

I just recently bought the Shuttle SN27P2 and have been happy with it so far. I was wondering if you have any suggestions on compiling a kernel for it? I am running Slamd64 which is using the 2.6.16.29 kernel.
